TENG BOON (星期六)香港
Since the mid-90’s, Hong Kong’s dance and club music grew up around Teng Boon’s ground-breaking DJ sets. A rare triple-threat of radio, club, and rave party gigs made him a very busy DJ. A daily 3-hour dose of acid jazz and funk on 864AM’s Traffic Jam could be heard in taxi’s and Walkmen everywhere. Lan Kwai Fong’s legendary Club 97 had celebrities dancing to the latest house, hip hop, and even salsa. The original big name underground parties - Moist, Fierce, Robot, Funky Belly - all counted on Teng Boon to raise the roof with an opening set worthy of the internationals that played after him, from Basement Jaxx, to Carl Cox, Derrick May and Lil Louis Vega. These days, as Asia Pacific’s creative director for Musicstyling, Teng Boon comes out of DJ retirement but once a year to rock his favourite club classics and a few new jams - only at Clockenflap’s Silent Disco.
