GEORGE CLINTON & PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC (FRI)UNITED STATES
All hail the king of funk, as the one and only George Clinton gets set to make Hong Kong dance.
One of the original pioneers of funk, and cited as an influence for everyone from Michael Jackson and Pharrell Williams to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, George Clinton is nothing less than a titan of contemporary music. Whether as the leader of seminal 1970s psychedelic funk outfits Parliament and Funkadelic, or in his hugely successful solo career, Clinton has been at the top for more than 50 years – and his influence shows no sign of waning, with his appearance at last year’s Glastonbury Festival alongside Mark Ronson, Mary J. Blige and Grandmaster Flash a recent highlight. Put simply, he is the king of the funk and he will make you dance. Who could ask for anything more?
