Festival History
Clockenflap is Hong Kong’s largest and longest-running outdoor music and arts festival, and a major highlight of the city’s annual cultural calendar. Launched in 2008 by friends and founders Mike Hill (Festival Director), Justin Sweeting (Music Director) and Jay Hofmann-Forster (Artistic Director), Clockenflap has grown from an intimate one-day gathering of 1,500 local music and arts lovers, to a three-day cultural extravaganza with audience of 70,000 in 2018.
Festival Vision
Clockenflap’s arts program spans the entire festival site, with works ranging from; installation art, kinetic sculpture, immersive experiences, and mobile performances. Nurturing and magnifying home-grown talent upon an internationally acclaimed platform, the festival format serves as one giant canvas; with the opportunity to transform and inspire.
2023 Arts Open Call
We are inviting visual and performing artists to submit proposals to present existing or newly created work at Clockenflap 2023. Please submit a description of the project, artist biography, proposed budget, and any relevant images, including past work.
Project Support
We are offering the following package to each selected artist or creative studio:
- Funding to realize the project (amount to be determined on a case-by-case basis)
- 4 x 3-day festival tickets (value HK$6,880)
- A dedicated artist page on www.clockenflap.com
- Exposure to ~ 70,000 people at the festival
- Opportunity for media interviews
- Professional photographs of your work
