POUBELLE INTERNATIONAL

POUBELLE INTERNATIONAL
(HK)

POUBELLE INTERNATIONAL was formed in 2007 by three designers whose aim was to write deceptively simple, addictive songs… and deliver them loud enough to make boys tap their feet and girls shake their girly bits.

The band quickly established themselves as a sought after name in the Hong Kong indie scene. Energetic riffs, a healthy dose of irony, and quirky, catchy lyrics dominate a Poubelle International set which, along with a tendency to involve the audience in their songs, have seen them develop a reputation for tight and thoroughly entertaining live shows.

The trio have since toured Manila twice, contributed songs to The Underground compilation CD, performed live on RTHK television and Radio, played at Clockenflap 2009/10 festival and opened for several international touring acts passing through Hong Kong.

Their debut EP ‘Avec La Boom’ was launched early in 2010, soon followed by the music video for the leading track ‘The Sell Out'.  The song ‘The Battle Of Trafalgar Square’ was voted ‘Best of HK Indie’ by Time Out magazine.

The explosive follow-up EP ‘Sans Contrôle’ was released in June 2011 and features the same Poubelle formula, only a little wiser, a little tighter, and a lot louder. In anticipation, the music video for the 'The Hedonist' was released in December, and has been screened in 36 countries on Channel V Asia from June 2011, and on MTV across Asia from September.

Joining Sony/ATV Music Publishing in August 2011 heralds a new era for the band of bassist Zane Stroud, singer Ben McCarthy and drummer Johan Persson.
