OCEAN LAM

This week’s “Elemental Theory Artist of the Week” is Ocean Lam. A long-time lover of deep tech, minimal and tech house before turning to the controls herself, Ocean landed her first warm up set at HK’s beloved Yumla in May 2008, and quickly became a resident in Yumla’s rotating roster of local talent.
Honing her skills at Yumla over the last two years, Ocean has warmed up for several international DJs and producers, including Charles Siegling (Technasia, France) in 2009, and Greg Starx (France) and Markus Homm (Germany) in 2010. Her peak time set of hard, dirty tech house at March’s UP party (Backstage) showed HK that Ocean is a real player in this little scene of ours.
Ocean continues to rock Yumla’s Grrl Power nights, a monthly event with Yumla’s three relentless female residents (along with Wendy Wenn and Kerri Monk), which has proven to be one of HK’s favourite nights to party. Dropping tracks by producers such as Cari Lekebusch, Ahmet Sisman, and Kaiserdisco, and from labels like Kling Klong, Drumcode and Slash, Ocean continues to bring new and evolving sounds to the hungry HK crowd.
