Yuen Chi-Chung is best known as the founder of legendary Hong Kong based independent music magazine Music Colony Bi-weekly (MCB). Established in 1994, it was among the most famous and influential music magazines in the Chinese-speaking region. After a decade as a groundbreaking platform for music reportage and critique, MCB ceased publication in hard-copy format in 2004 and went online.

 

YCC has been active as a music critic since 1987 and has written about a wide range of artists and music genres. Yuen writes for other publications and online media in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. He is also the DJ, curator of live music shows, music culture tutor and consultant editor of music channel.

 

YCC plays “eclectism” DJ set for Clockenflap since 2011. He was an opening DJ at Pacific UV, Juveniles, Blaine L. Reininger, PREP’s live gig, and also DJing at the exhibition of Joan Cornellà.
